Meet the Founder

Some pets quietly change the course of our lives. For Laura, that journey began with a spirited beagle named Ladybug. More than just a family pet, Ladybug was a loyal companion, watchful protector, and constant source of comfort. That bond built the foundation of compassion, curiosity, and deep respect for dogs that guides Laura's work today.

Laura's understanding deepened while caring for her beloved senior companions, Amber and Daisy. Navigating their aging process alongside arthritis, mobility challenges, and cognitive changes highlighted how profoundly a dog's needs evolve over time. She saw firsthand how thoughtful observation, gentle adaptations, and individualized enrichment could preserve an aging dog's dignity, comfort, confidence, and joy.

These experiences reshaped Laura's vision for senior dog care. She came to realize that growing older doesn't diminish a dog's need for purpose, movement, connection, and discovery — it simply requires experiences thoughtfully tailored to meet them where they are.

That insight became the foundation for Grala Pet Care Group: a practice devoted entirely to senior dog enrichment. Through individualized home-based care, Laura helps aging dogs continue living rich, engaged, and fulfilling lives alongside the families who love them.

PHILOSOPHY:

At Grala Pet Care Group, we believe every senior dog deserves to age with dignity, experience joy, and feel deeply cherished throughout their later years.

Senior dogs thrive when care evolves alongside them — through a gentle, individualized approach to enrichment that matches their changing needs, energy, and abilities. Quality of life extends far beyond basic care; aging dogs still need opportunities to explore, engage their senses, make choices, and experience the simple pleasures that bring meaning to everyday life.

Guided by choice & consent we make sure every interaction is designed to give your dog agency. By honoring individual preferences, boundaries, and energy levels, we create experiences that are safe, enriching, and uniquely their own.

We also recognize the caregiver supporting an aging companion. As dogs grow older, families find they need to adjust environments, routines, activities, and expectations while preserving the things their dog loves most. Through practical coaching and thoughtful guidance, we support caregivers guiding their pets through these changes — helping you maintain those cherished moments while adapting to your dog's evolving needs.

It is our privilege to walk alongside these remarkable dogs — and the families who love them — with patience, compassion, and unwavering respect for every stage of their journey.

PRACTICE MODEL:

Every aspect of Grala Pet Care Group is designed around one simple belief: exceptional support cannot be rushed.

Rather than serving hundreds of families, we intentionally maintain a smaller client community so every dog receives the time, consistency, and individualized attention they deserve.

Our signature one-hour sessions provide the unhurried time needed to observe, connect, and deliver meaningful enrichment tailored to your dog's real-time needs. Rather than following a rigid, predetermined routine, every session is adaptively guided by your dog in the moment.

Because our focus is helping senior dogs experience the highest possible quality of life throughout their later years, we do things a little differently.

Every recommendation, activity, and interaction has a clear purpose. We thoughtfully adapt each session to your dog's changing physical abilities, emotional state, cognitive needs, preferences, and individual goals — creating an enrichment experience designed to support comfort, confidence, engagement, and overall quality of life.

By remaining intentionally focused, we can give every dog — and every family — the depth of attention they deserve.

Relationships matter.

Whenever possible, we strive for each senior dog to work consistently with the same trusted Canine Enrichment Specialist. This familiarity builds deep trust, allowing us to recognize subtle shifts in comfort, confidence, behavior, and engagement that develop over time.

A boutique practice by design.

To preserve the calm, unhurried experience and individualized focus that defines our work, appointments are offered Monday through Friday by scheduled reservation.

THE GRALA DIFFERENCE
(and why it matters for your senior dog)

THE FEAR FREE® PROMISE:

Every Grala session is guided by Fear Free® principles that prioritize your senior dog's emotional wellbeing alongside their physical comfort. We respect each dog's pace, honor individual choice whenever possible, and use our relationship-centered techniques designed to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress while building trust and positive associations.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS:

Your dog's care is supported by a strong commitment to continual professional education. Every Canine Enrichment Specialist maintains Fear Free®, Pet First Aid & CPR, and ongoing continuing education so every enrichment experience is grounded in current, evidence-informed practices.

THOUGHTFULLY TAILORED EXPERIENCES:

Every senior dog experiences aging differently, which is why no two Grala sessions are alike. We thoughtfully adapt enrichment, pace, communication, and activities to each dog's personality, abilities, preferences, energy, and changing needs — creating experiences that are as individual as the dogs themselves.

GENTLE OBSERVATION:

We believe some of the most important changes in a senior dog's life happen quietly. By spending unhurried time with each dog, we are able to notice subtle changes in comfort, mobility, confidence, behavior, and emotional wellbeing that may otherwise go unseen. Those observations allow us to better support both dogs and the families who love them.

SUPPORTING FAMILIES:

Your senior dog's journey is also your journey. As their needs change, questions and new decisions often arise along the way. We work alongside each family by sharing observations, celebrating meaningful moments, and offering thoughtful guidance that helps you better understand and support your dog through their later years — so you feel informed, supported, and confident between every visit.

LIFELONG LEARNING:

Exceptional care begins with a commitment to lifelong learning. We continually refine our knowledge through ongoing professional training and education in Fear Free® practices, senior specific enrichment, behavior, cognition, mobility, sensory changes, and any other evidence-informed approaches relevant to canine aging. As our understanding evolves, so does the care we provide — helping ensure every senior dog benefits from the most thoughtful, individualized enrichment experience possible.
