Canine Caregiver Coaching

Specialized guidance for canine caregivers with senior pets, those experiencing sensory loss or pets with anxiety-induced behaviors.

Coaching for a Better Life, One Paw at a Time....

Canine Caregiver Coaching Sessions are available Tuesday & Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM.

Specialized care requires specialized knowledge. Grala Pet Care Group, as a high-touch pet enrichment and wellness provider focusing exclusively on senior, sensory-impaired and high-anxiety dogs, we’ve developed curated coaching programs to empower you with the tools used every day in our professional practice. Caring for a dog with specialized needs can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate this journey alone.

Each 1-hour session covers critical areas of care - from safe environment design, enhanced communication techniques to stress reduction protocols - all designed to help you proactively manage your dogs unique needs. This isn't just advice; it’s a blueprint for improving the quality of life for you and your canine family member in the comfort of your own home.

Specialized coaching sessions are held during the evening hours to ensure canine pet parents are home, relaxed and ready to learn. This timing is particularly beneficial for senior dogs experiencing 'sundowning' or evening anxiety, allowing us to address behavioral challenges in real-time. Note: No weekly minimum or Initial Consultation required.

"The Calm Connections Series"

The Safe Haven Blueprint:  Optimizing Your Home for Peace

Focus: Environmental management to lower your dogs daily baseline stress levels.

Is your home working for or against your dogs anxiety? In this one-hour deep dive, we will assess your living space to identify hidden FAS triggers - from acoustic stressors to high-traffic "conflict zones."

We will create a customized Safe Haven Blueprint, designating and optimizing a "personal sanctuary" where your dog can feel secure during storms, visitors or high-stress transitions.

Language Mastery: Decoding FAS Micro-Signals

Focus: Teaching owners to recognize early "whispers" of stress before they become "screams" (outbursts).

Understanding FAS is like learning a second language. This one-hour session focuses on the subtle body language signals to look for - panting, "whale eye" or lip licking - that dogs use to communicate rising stress.

We will use live observation and video review to help you "see" what your dog is saying in real-time, allowing you to intervene early and build a deeper bond of trust.

The Resilience Routine: Stress-Free Enrichment

Focus: Building confidence through mental stimulation and predictable daily structures.

For an anxious dog, predictability equals safety. This one-hour session focuses on building a Resilience Routine that uses low-arousal enrichment - like scent work, lick mats and "find it" games - to naturally lower cortisol levels and build "bravery" muscles.

We will design a daily schedule that balances necessary routine with gentle, positive challenges to expand your dog's comfort zone.

"The Empowered Senses Series"

Tactile & Visual Communication Mastery

Focus: Replacing verbal commands with hand signals, touch cues and vibration conditioning for improved communication.

Turn the challenge of sensory loss into a new, profound connection with your dog. Whether they are losing their sight or hearing, or were born with a disability, this one-hour, intensive coaching session focuses on what they can do.

You’ll learn to communicate through scent, touch, vibration and specialized cues, receiving a custom roadmap to help them navigate the world with confidence and safety.

Scent-Mapping & Environmental Navigation

Focus: Using smell, texture and auditory cues to help visually impaired dogs map their environment securely.

For dogs with visual impairments, the world is mapped through their nose. In this one-hour session, we will design a living space that a visually-impaired dog can navigate independently.

We will cover the use of scent markers to identify different rooms, the placement of tactile runners (textured rugs) to act as internal "highways," and techniques for introducing new furniture without causing distress.

The goal is to transform the home from a confusing obstacle course into a predictable, safe sanctuary where your dog feels empowered to move freely.

"Beyond Sound" Enrichment & Safety Tactics

Focus: Creating sensory-rich play and secure routines for hearing impaired dogs that rely on sight and vibration.

This one-hour session is dedicated to enriching the life of deaf dogs and ensuring their safety. We will explore high-visual toys (such as glowing balls or laser pointers) to satisfy their need for stimulation.

We will also implement safe wake-up protocols - using floor stomping to create gentle vibrations that avoid startling them - and establish a "check-in" ritual that enhances your bond, ensuring that "communication" is not just about commands, but about loving connection.

"Golden Years Guidance Series"

The Senior Setup: Making Home Safe & Comfortable

Focus: Environmental modification and practical home adjustments to support a dogs aging body.

This one-hour session focuses on assessing your home environment through the eyes of an aging dog. We will work with you on actionable, tailored adjustments to eliminate pain triggers and help your canine companion navigate the home with ease.

With a dedicated emphasis on maintaining your dogs dignity and reducing pain, we will create a safe space so they can live out their golden years comfortably, moving freely without the fear of falling.

Cognitive Care: Keeping Sharp Minds Engaged

Focus: Exploring ways to implement gentle, fun brain games & sensory stimulation to combat Canine Cognitive Dysfunction.

Addressing signs of dementia like wandering, disorientation or increased anxiety, this one-hour session introduces low-physical-exertion games that provide mental engagement.

We will explore scent games, easy puzzle feeders and positive reinforcement to keep the brain sharp, build confidence and deepen the bond while keeping them calm and happy.

Golden Years in Motion: Mobility Exercises for the Aging Pet

Focus: Teaching you simple, gentle home exercises to improve joint flexibility and daily comfort for your senior dog.

This one-hour specialized coaching session is designed specifically for your aging canine companion. We will teach you how to improve the quality of life for your senior dog through low-impact mobility exercises, targeted strength conditioning and gentle stretching.

This specialized program is designed to help you identify early signs of mobility decline and provide at-home techniques to increase comfort, flexibility and strength while protecting aging joints.

Senior Wellness Monitoring & Caregiver Support

Focus: Helping you confidently navigate your dog's aging journey—from recognizing subtle changes in quality of life and discomfort to caring for your own emotional wellbeing as a devoted caregiver.

This one-hour coaching session is designed to support both you and your aging canine companion. Together, we'll learn how to recognize subtle changes in mobility, comfort, cognition, appetite, sleep, and overall quality of life while developing practical ways to monitor your dog's wellbeing over time.

Just as importantly, we'll talk openly about the emotional side of caregiving—including caregiver fatigue, anticipatory grief, feelings of guilt, decision-making, and maintaining your own wellbeing throughout the journey.

You'll leave with practical tools, greater confidence, and the reassurance that you don't have to navigate this season of life alone.
