An Exploratory Walk Designed Around Your Senior Dog

A Sniffari is far more than a walk. It is a thoughtfully paced outdoor experience that gives your senior dog the freedom to sniff, explore, investigate, and engage with the world in ways that feel natural and enjoyable to them.

Rather than measuring success by distance, speed, or how much ground we cover, we allow your dog to help guide the experience. Interesting scents can be investigated. Favorite spots can be revisited. A few extra moments can be spent simply standing, watching, listening, or taking in the environment. The walk unfolds around what captures your senior dog's interest and what their body comfortably allows that day.

As dogs age, their pace, stamina, mobility, confidence, vision, hearing, and tolerance for the environment may change—but their desire to experience the world does not simply disappear. Sniffari Adventures create meaningful opportunities for sensory engagement, natural movement, mental stimulation, choice, and exploration while respecting the individual dog your companion is today.

Some days may bring a little more movement and adventure. Others may call for a shorter route, more sniffing, additional pauses, or simply more time enjoying the surroundings. There is no distance to achieve and no pace to keep.

Sniffing isn't something we hurry your senior dog through—it is the heart of the experience. Your dog is given time to follow scents, investigate interesting areas, and engage with the environment through one of their most powerful senses. Where appropriate and safe, they are also given meaningful opportunities for choice about where they would like to explore.
 

Move at Their Own Pace 
Every Sniffari is adjusted to your senior dog's mobility, stamina, comfort, and energy that day. We may wander farther when they are feeling energetic or stay closer to home when their body calls for a gentler outing. Pauses are welcome, routes can change, and the experience is never measured by miles or minutes spent continuously walking.
 

Experience the World 
A Sniffari offers much more than physical movement. Fresh air, changing scents, different surfaces, neighborhood sounds, sunshine, shade, movement in the distance, and familiar or novel surroundings create a naturally rich sensory experience. For senior dogs whose worlds may gradually become smaller, these opportunities to safely engage with life beyond the home can be especially meaningful.
 

Return Home Content 
We allow the experience to naturally wind down as we make our way home, rather than pushing your dog to accomplish “just a little more.” The goal is not exhaustion. It is helping your senior companion return home comfortably fulfilled after an outing designed around their body, mind, interests, and abilities.
